Micro Switch

Process

The micro switch proved difficult to mark because it was manufactured from a plastic which contained a fire retardant. To help improve the contrast of the laser mark, an additive was mixed with the plastic prior to moulding, this enabled all the required information to be marked with high contrast.

This process of plastic laser marking removed the requirement for expensive consumable inks and solvents, associated with traditional methods.

Laser Electrox recommend the use of the Raptor fibre laser marker with a 163 mm focal length flat field lens. This combination produces a small spot size with medium to high energy density, enabling the laser marker to produce clean foamed marks and to achieve high marking speeds.
